SZA Reflects Positively on Winning Three Grammy Awards Despite 'Album of the Year' Miss

Published February 7, 2024

Despite the flood of opinions following the Grammy Awards, particularly regarding the prestigious Album Of The Year category, SZA displayed a sense of contentment. Although her celebrated sophomore album, SOS, did not clinch the top spot, SZA seemed unperturbed by the outcome.

Triple Grammy Win

SZA's night at the 2024 Grammy Awards was far from lackluster as she took home three separate awards. She won Best Progressive R&B Album for SOS, secured Best R&B Song with "Snooze," and topped off her success with the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her collaborative effort with Phoebe Bridgers on "Ghost In The Machine." In a post-award show interview, SZA reflected on her trio of wins with humility and gratitude.

Gratitude Over Gloom

"I'm grateful I won three," she shared, recognizing that the night could have ended very differently. "I could have left with nothing and I didn't." SZA also spoke of her gratefulness for her parents witnessing her success and her relief at not "bombing" on live TV, overcoming a significant personal fear in the process. She expressed a genuine happiness for both her accomplishments and those of her peers.

A Debut and Discretion About New Music

In addition to her award wins, SZA captivated Grammy audiences with performances of "Kill Bill" and "Snooze." She also teased listeners with a new song, "Saturn," from her anticipated forthcoming album titled LANA. However, SZA remained mysterious about the details of this new project, stressing the importance of letting the album's energy naturally evolve without interference.
