Remember Monday: The UK's First Girl Band at Eurovision in 25 Years

Published March 7, 2025

Remember Monday is preparing to take the stage as the UK's representative in the Eurovision Song Contest for its 69th edition, set to occur in May in Basel, Switzerland.

This country music trio consists of Charlotte, Holly, and Lauren. They are making history as the first girl group to represent the UK at Eurovision in over 25 years. Recently, they shared an interesting fact about their connection with pop star Sabrina Carpenter.

The last girl group to represent the UK was Precious in 1999. They secured 12th place with their song "Say It Again." Now, with their performance of "What The Hell Just Happened?", Remember Monday is ready to compete for Eurovision success.

With Nemo winning last year's Grand Final with their song "The Code", excitement is building for this contest.

Who Are Remember Monday?

Remember Monday is made up of three best friends who have built a reputation for their powerful vocals and harmonious sounds. The trio formed while they were attending Farnborough Sixth Form College in Hampshire.

The band's name comes from the day they made it a point to meet up regularly for practice during their early days.

They first gained fame on the 2019 season of "The Voice UK," where they reached the Quarter-Finals.

In addition to their energetic pop music, Remember Monday is known for their catchy melodies that have gone viral on social media, attracting a devoted following of over half a million on platforms like TikTok, where they have received 11.3 million likes.

The girls have impressively created fun A cappella covers of songs from diverse artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Queen, and Shania Twain, showcasing their versatility. In 2023, they decided to pursue their music career full-time, leaving behind their day jobs. Each member also has experience in the theater; they have appeared in West End shows such as "Les Misérables," "The Phantom of the Opera," "Mary Poppins," and "Matilda." Lauren even took a lead role in the "SIX" tour.

Interaction with Sabrina Carpenter

In a recent Instagram post, Remember Monday shared that they had penned a song titled "15 minutes" some time ago, but they humorously stated that Sabrina Carpenter's song of the same name was better, leading them to put their own version aside. Carpenter's "15 minutes" is featured on her album "Short n' Sweet (Deluxe)" released last month, and discusses the fleeting nature of fame.

Eurovision Entry Song

Remember Monday's Eurovision entry, "What The Hell Just Happened?", reflects on the events following an enjoyable night out with friends. This song marks the first time a girl band has represented the UK in Eurovision since 1999.

The upbeat and high-energy track was co-written by the talented duo Billen Ted (Tom Hollings and Sam Brennan), Thomas Stengaard, and multi-platinum songwriter Julie "Kill J" Aagaard. Billen Ted has collaborated with famous artists like Little Mix and Anne-Marie, while Stengaard wrote Denmark's 2013 Eurovision winner "Only Teardrops." Aagaard is known both as a songwriter and an experimental pop artist.

The song "What The Hell Just Happened?" is released through The Other Songs, an independent music and entertainment company.
