Hitxion Celebrates Birthday and Professional Milestone with Year-End Concert

Published December 19, 2023

Multitalented Chicago music artist Zion Jackson, known professionally as Hitxion, has achieved an impressive goal in 2023: scheduling at least one performance every month. He triumphantly meets this target by headlining an event at Cole's on Saturday, December 23, coinciding with his 25th birthday. This notable gig also serves as a platform to promote his richly crafted album Touch Erf, which was released in October.

A Musical Evolution

Hitxion's artistic journey is rooted in his family's church singing experiences, alongside his sister who raps under the name Frida Ka$hflo. Their musical influence spurred Zion's curiosity in production, beat making, and engineering, leading him to dabble with music recording as young as 14. Despite beginning with modest equipment like a Snowball microphone in a friend's basement, his commitment to the craft was serious.

Under the Hitxion moniker, which he adopted around 2018, his recent album marks a transition in his music style. With slower-paced tracks, he emphasizes a newfound confidence that has allowed him to become more open and personal in his work. This transformation represents a shift from emulating others to creating music that remains authentic to his own sense of artistry.

A Family Affair

Supporting Hitxion's birthday show, sibling act Havick—which includes sister Frida Ka$hflo and brothers who perform as Khari Ennui and JayNsanity—will be igniting the stage as openers. Hitxion credits his siblings with renewing his energy and instilling a renewed sense of purpose in his endeavors. Zion's efforts are on full display with Touch Erf being a testament to his dedication to evolving as a musician and a person.
