Pete Tong Set for ‘Ibiza Classics’ UK Arena Tour in 2024

Published December 5, 2023

Pete Tong is gearing up to bring the spirit of Ibiza to the UK with his upcoming 'Ibiza Classics' arena tour slated for 2024. Known for his role as a pioneering BBC Radio 1 DJ, Tong made waves with his 'Ibiza Classics' compilation album in 2017—created alongside Jules Buckley and The Heritage Orchestra—which boasts orchestral covers of iconic dance tracks from The Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, and Armand Van Helden, among others. After multiple tours, Tong is hitting the road again with Jules Buckley and The Essential Orchestra for an extensive nine-show arena tour in December 2024.

The tour includes stops in major cities such as Glasgow, Manchester, and Birmingham, with the grand finale at the London O2 Arena over two nights. Tickets are set to go on sale on December 8 at 9.30 am. Additionally, Tong will perform at several outdoor venues in the summer of 2024, with some tickets still available for purchase.

In recognition of his contributions to dance music, Pete Tong was awarded the Music Industry Trusts Award in 2021, making history as the first dance music specialist to receive the accolade. When receiving the award, Tong expressed his deep gratitude and highlighted the collective journey and impact of dance music culture. Notable past recipients of the award include industry giants such as George Martin, Peter Gabriel, and Kylie Minogue.

Massive Attack, however, previously expressed disapproval of Tong's orchestral version of their song 'Unfinished Sympathy' on the 'Ibiza Classics' album, suggesting Tong should donate profits from that song to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). Despite the controversy, the 'Ibiza Classics' albums and tours have been embraced by audiences looking for a nostalgic trip through dance music's hits.
