Daniel Noah Miller's Journey from D.C. to Solo Artistry with 'Disintegration'

Long before making waves in the music world as part of the pop duo Lewis Del Mar, Daniel Noah Miller was just a kid in Adams Morgan, D.C., with a taste for punk tunes and ska rhythms. In his youth, Daniel walked to school with the sounds of Fugazi and the Pietasters as his backdrop, experiences that foreshadowed his future in the music industry.

His musical journey truly began at a Black Cat concert, where at just 12 years old, Miller found himself at the center of attention, singing on stage with the Pietasters. This moment left an indelible mark, sparking his ambition to pursue a career in music.

Years later, with bandmate Max Harwood, Miller's band Lewis Del Mar burst onto the scene with their eponymous debut album, gaining recognition from major outlets and playing at renowned venues and festivals. After releasing a sophomore album and an EP, the group went on hiatus.

Now at 34, Miller has embarked on a solo career. His solo album Disintegration drops 11 tracks that delve into personal themes of relationship dissolutions and individual identity with groundbreaking honesty. With production by Jack Hallenbeck and influences from ambient music giants, Miller crafted a sound that is both unique and introspective.

Amidst personal losses and the pandemic's toll, Miller found solace and inspiration in ambient music, eventually penning songs for Disintegration. After a brief stint in Central America and a move to Los Angeles, Miller found the right environment to inspire this deeply personal project. Despite its inception in solitude, the album is a testament to the collaborative spirit, with significant contributions from Hallenbeck.

As Miller introduces Disintegration to listeners, he brings a new form of live performance, transforming his studio work into a near spiritual live experience. While he plans for these performances, he also looks forward to taking some personal time, setting his sights on a dream trip to Japan.

Even as he ventures into his solo career, Miller carries with him the influence of his upbringing in D.C., his musical roots, and experiences that continue to shape his artistry. Though the future of Lewis Del Mar remains open-ended, Miller is enjoying the liberation of pursuing music as a passion first, and a career second.
