Oasis to Cancel Over 50,000 UK Tour Tickets Purchased on Resale Sites

Published October 29, 2024

Oasis has announced that they will cancel more than 50,000 tickets for their upcoming UK tour that were sold on secondary platforms. This decision was reported by the BBC today.

The promoters for the band, Live Nation and SJM, informed the BBC that all invalidated tickets will be available again through the official ticket seller, Ticketmaster, at their original face value.

High Demand for Tickets

When Oasis announced their tour in August, approximately 1.4 million tickets were offered for sale. However, there was an overwhelming response, with around 10 million fans from 158 different countries attempting to purchase tickets. This immense popularity resulted in thousands of tickets quickly appearing on resale websites, often at significantly inflated prices.

According to Live Nation and SJM, about 4% of the total tickets sold ended up on these resale platforms, which amounts to roughly 50,000 tickets. The process to cancel these resold tickets aims to combat price inflation and prevent price gouging.

Future Ticket Availability

The cancellations will begin shortly, and affected fans will be able to purchase new tickets at the official price through Ticketmaster once again. This step is a part of the band's efforts to ensure fairness in ticket sales and make sure that genuine fans have the opportunity to attend their concerts without being subjected to high resale prices.

Fans looking forward to the tour should stay updated on the latest announcements to secure their tickets through the official channels, avoiding secondary sales that may lead to cancellations.
