Young Broadway Stars Captivate Senior Audience with Show Tunes

Published December 3, 2023

When four young theater actors stepped onto a smaller stage than they're used to, they brought an unprecedented level of excitement to a senior living community on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The event, part of a monthly Broadway series, witnessed sprightly performances from children who have graced some of Broadway's iconic roles, performing not for the usual theatre-goers but for an audience of joyful seniors.

A Musical Afternoon to Remember

Corey J, familiar with the spotlight as a former Little Michael in 'MJ' the Broadway musical, dressed sharply in black attire, took the audience back in time with the Jackson 5's hit 'I Want You Back.' Delivered with the same professionalism he showed at the Neil Simon Theater, his performance had around 50 residents clapping in time, their smiles as wide as the room itself.

The Stars of the Show

The young entertainers included Corey J, 12; Aria Kane, 9, who played Young Anna in the 'Frozen' tour; Benjamin Pajak, 12, known for his role as Winthrop Paroo in 'The Music Man'; and Jillian Paige Platero, 12, one of the Young Nalas in 'The Lion King.' With Nate Patten on piano, the ensemble captured hearts at the Inspir Carnegie Hill senior living community amidst an afternoon filled with melody and nostalgia.

An Unforgettable Impact

Evan Rossi, the senior director of resident experience at Inspir, and the mastermind behind this musical treat, expressed his elation over the success of the concert. Proving more popular than any public event in the past three years, the concert left a memorable imprint on the seniors, serving as a testament to the timeless connection between generations through the power of performance.
