Live Nation and Crew Nation Pledge $1 Million to Support Music Community Affected by LA Wildfires

Published January 20, 2025

Live Nation and Crew Nation have announced a commitment of $1 million (£813,355) to aid musicians, live music crew, and industry workers impacted by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.

The destructive wildfires began on January 7, forcing more than 150,000 residents in the Los Angeles area to evacuate their homes. As of now, there have been 27 confirmed fatalities and more than 20 individuals reported missing.

In response to this disaster, the Crew Nation Global Relief Fund will allocate these funds to assist performing artists and workers in the live music sector who have been directly affected. This initiative will provide financial support to help cover expenses incurred due to evacuations, property damage, or loss.

Crew Nation was established by Live Nation Entertainment in 2020, created to support individuals in the music community facing unexpected hardships during the pandemic. Over the past five years, this fund has supported more than 16,000 crew members, with Live Nation contributing a total of $10 million (£8.13m), alongside over $8 million raised through contributions from artists, fans, and partners in the industry.

This latest round of funding will allow individuals who work within the industry and are experiencing financial strain due to the fires to apply for grants of up to $5,000 (£4,066).

Michael Rapino, President and CEO of Live Nation Entertainment, stated, "L.A. is home to so many who help make live music possible. Crew Nation is continuing its core mission of helping this hardworking community through unforeseen hardship." For more information on applying for the Crew Nation Fund grants, interested parties can find the application process online.

In addition to Crew Nation's efforts, Live Nation is implementing direct relief for employees affected at its Los Angeles headquarters through its program known as "Taking Care Of Our Own." Furthermore, the company is supporting the upcoming FireAid concert scheduled for January 30, a benefit event aimed at raising funds for community rebuilding and fire prevention initiatives.

The FireAid concert will feature performances from several well-known artists, including Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Stevie Nicks, and Green Day. The full lineup of performers is available for those interested.

Efforts to support the fire-affected communities have also been bolstered by contributions from other notable figures in the music industry. Beyoncé's BeyGOOD Foundation has pledged $2.5 million for relief efforts, while Paris Hilton has launched a fundraising initiative, committing $100,000 and offering to match donations up to the same amount.

In a show of solidarity, artist Dave Grohl recently spent his birthday cooking meals for families impacted by the wildfires. Additionally, the Canadian metal band Spiritbox organized a charity raffle in support of the victims.

Moreover, the American-Mexican band Fuerza Regida took significant steps by renting out a hotel for a week to provide shelter for 50 displaced families. Members of the LA music community have voiced their concerns regarding the extensive damage, emphasizing the impact on venues, studios, and artists due to the fires.
