Coldplay Celebrates Tenth Album Release with 45-Minute Film

Published January 23, 2025

Coldplay has released a new film to celebrate the launch of their most recent album, Moon Music.

The British band’s tenth album quickly reached number one in 16 countries, including the United Kingdom, after its release in October.

In line with the album, they have unveiled a 45-minute project titled A Film For The Future. This film is a collaborative effort involving over 150 directors and animation specialists from 45 countries around the globe.

The film features visuals for all ten tracks from the new album, allowing each collaborator the freedom to express their artistic vision.

Currently, the film is available for viewing on YouTube, and fans also have the option to experience it in full as an immersive event at venues in London and Manchester.

Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, remarked, "I don’t like to say this, but this is the best thing we have ever been a part of. If you get a chance to see it, please do. Many incredible people have contributed to this project."

Coldplay initially teased the film back in 2019, long before its official release, showcasing artwork that featured a license plate with the inscription FFTF2024.

Director Ben Mor, who worked with the band on this ambitious project, shared, "It was an incredible privilege to view such an ambitious project from above, collaborating with so many remarkable animators and filmmakers who worked independently. The final film is jaw-dropping, and I can’t wait for Coldplay fans to see it."

In previous interviews, Chris Martin revealed that the group plans to release two more albums before considering disbandment. He mentioned during a discussion with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, "We are only going to do 12 proper albums, and that’s real. We believe in quality over quantity, and our critics might agree that less would be better! Having a limit helps maintain high quality. For a song to make it onto an album is almost impossible, which we see as a positive thing."

Martin further explained, "There are only seven Harry Potters and about twelve and a half Beatles albums. Each artist we admire has a similar limit. This restriction encourages us to focus on improvement instead of coasting."

Despite the limits on new albums, Martin hinted that other projects may emerge. Any potential 'side projects' would need to be significantly different from their main work.

Coldplay has consistently released best-selling albums throughout their career, amassing a huge fan base. Their album X&Y, launched in 2005, won the Brit Award for British Album of the Year. Additionally, their 2019 album Everyday Life was honored with a GAFFA Award for International Band of the Year.

Among Coldplay's numerous hits, their collaboration with The Chainsmokers, titled Something Just Like This, has become their most-played song on YouTube, amassing over two billion views by October 4, 2024.
