The Smile: Radiohead's Creative Duo Arrives in Belgrade

During the pandemic, The Smile, a British band, was formed by the most prominent members of one of today's most influential groups, Radiohead. Legendary musicians Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, along with Tom Skinner, the renowned drummer of Sons of Kemet, have put together a band that critics have called a 'Radiohead in a power trio format.' For Serbian fans, the upcoming concert on June 14 represents a unique chance to experience Yorke and Greenwood perform live for the first time in Serbia, especially since The Smile's sound is described as a 'more relaxed and freer version of Radiohead.'

The Belgrade Concert: Part of a Europe-Wide Tour

The concert in Belgrade is just one stop on their tour which begins in March, spanning numerous major cities across Europe and their home country, the UK.

The Emergence of The Smile and Their New Sound

The Smile has grabbed public attention with their initial singles and performances. Their second album 'Wall Of Eyes' featuring eight new songs is set to release on January 26. In preparation for the album, a music video for the title track directed by Paul Thomas Anderson was released last year, and it will be followed by the premiere of the 'Friend Of A Friend' video at a series of screenings in cinemas across 16 cities worldwide. At these special events, the album will be presented for the first and only time in surround sound, accompanied by never-before-seen footage from the recording sessions. Recorded in Oxford and Abbey Road Studio, 'Wall of Eyes' was produced and mixed by Sam Petts-Davies and includes string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra.

The Unique Influence of Thom Yorke

The similarities between The Smile and Radiohead are evident not only in their alternative sound but also in the distinctive voice of Yorke, known for his characteristic tenor, frequent use of falsetto, and a broad vocal range. Yorke is often cited as one of the most influential figures in alternative rock, holding a prominent place in the history of the genre.

Special Guest James Holden

During the tour, including the Belgrade concert, The Smile will be joined by guest musician James Holden. Holden has explored various music genres over his 20-year career and is recognized as a producer, remixer, DJ, label head, synth wizard, band leader, and mix engineer. After achieving early success with his trance single 'Horizons,' he has since turned to live performances, which audiences will experience firsthand at the concert.
