Country Singer Morgan Wallen Discourages Fans from Unofficial Old Music Release

Published January 26, 2024

Country music singer Morgan Wallen has taken time off from his leisure activities to inform his fans about an unofficial release of his old music. Wallen, who is currently 30, conveyed his concerns through an Instagram post on Thursday, January 25, during his duck hunting trip. The artist explained that back in 2014, at the onset of his music career, he had recorded songs after signing deals in Florida without legal guidance. Those deals, he regrets, did not grant him full creative control over his work.

Decade-Old Music Allegedly Leaking

Wallen indicated that of the 13 songs produced during that early period of his career, most did not meet his current standards; only five were included in the initial release of his debut EP, Stand Alone. According to Wallen, previous collaborators are purportedly planning to distribute an anniversary edition of the EP with additional eight tracks he did not authorize for release. These songs were crafted under contracts that he now views as limiting to his artistic freedom.

Morgan Wallen's Proactive Measures

In a move to counter the unplanned release, Wallen announced the launch of his own version of 'Spin You Around (1/24)' right at midnight on Friday, January 26. This new music drop, with self-made artwork, serves as his response to his former associates' actions. Additionally, Wallen openly shares his resolve to support upcoming musicians, pledging $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers and Professionals for the Arts (VLPA), aiming to protect newcomers from similar predicaments in the music industry.

Wallen's Future Endeavors

Wallen assures his supporters that any future music releases will come directly from him, emphasizing that these leaked songs do not represent the next chapter of his music career. In other news, Wallen, along with Eric Church, has made headway outside of music by acquiring Field and Stream magazine. The duo plans to rejuvenate the outdoor brand through various channels, including a print magazine, a dedicated website, an apparel line, and even a live music festival. This development aligns well with Wallen's image as he addressed his fans regarding the leaked tracks from his duck-hunting sojourn.
