Published December 11, 2023

In a move that celebrates and promotes the rich cultural heritage of the Isle of Man, a local singer has taken to the forefront to impart the beauty of Manx Gaelic songs through a specially organized workshop. This free educational event is poised to introduce participants to the traditional elements of Manx music, a cornerstone of the island's unique Gaelic identity.

Culture Vannin Embraces Musical Heritage

The workshop is scheduled for January 13th from 2-5pm and spearheaded by Ruth Keggin, who is known not only for her vocal talent but also for her role as Culture Vannin's Manx Language Development Officer. Her musical background and linguistic expertise make her an ideal guide to lead novices through their first steps into Manx Gaelic singing.

A Gateway to Gaelic Traditions

Participants in the workshop can look forward to a hands-on experience with Manx Gaelic songs. The session will be hosted at the Thie dy Vea retreat house, a serene location in Peel that will serve as a conducive learning environment. Besides the educational benefits, the event will provide refreshments, an aspect of hospitality that underscores the inclusive and community-focused nature of such cultural gatherings. No prior experience is required to join, as the workshop is tailored to absolute beginners, ensuring that anyone with an interest can take part.
