As the weekend rolls in, Northern Illinois University area buzzes with a variety of events that cater to all tastes, from artistic workshops to energetic sports games, and community gatherings. Kicking off on Friday evening, Jubilee Artisans is hosting an Alcohol Ink Class with Niffers Art Nest at 5 p.m., perfect for those looking to unleash their creativity through vibrant colors and fluid patterns. As the night falls, the Vineyard Church opens its doors for Friday Night Worship starting at 7 p.m., offering a spiritual respite and a sense of community.

Family Fun and Sports

Come Saturday morning, families can enjoy a themed breakfast event, as Hy-Vee invites patrons to a Trolls Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., making for an exciting start to the day. At noon, the DeKalb Public Library encourages volunteers to join in decorating Easter cards, a gesture sure to bring joy to many. Sports enthusiasts won't be disappointed as the Bowling Green Falcons take on the Northern Illinois Huskies Women’s Basketball team at 1 p.m. at the NIU Convocation Center, followed by an Alumni Day Basketball Doubleheader and the men’s basketball game against Ohio Bobcats at 3:30 p.m.

The evening carries on with delicious dinner options accompanied by music at the DeKalb Moose Family Center, and jazz lovers can enjoy live performances from Jazz in Progress at the library. Highlight of the night, Fatty’s Pub and Grille hosts Country Night from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., promising a lively atmosphere with foot-tapping music. Sunday Screenings and Study
