Nina Dobrev Feels Survivor’s Guilt Amid LA Fires
Nina Dobrev is taking action during a difficult time in Los Angeles. The actress, known for her role in The Vampire Diaries, recently got engaged to Shaun White. She candidly shared her feelings regarding the tragic fires that have impacted many lives in the area.
In a video posted on her Instagram on January 19, Nina expressed her deep sadness for those affected by the fires. "Hi everyone, it’s been such a tragic time in Los Angeles recently," she said. "I have been absolutely sick to my stomach with all the destruction and devastation that these fires have caused and displaced so many families. My heart is broken for all the people affected by these wildfires."
She went on to share that her evacuation on January 9 was unexpected and not how she envisioned her birthday celebrations. In addition to sharing her gratitude for the birthday wishes she received, Nina conveyed her feelings of guilt for being able to leave the area safely. "I’ve been feeling survivor's guilt," she explained. "My home wasn’t affected, but I know many others were not so lucky."
Realizing the need to help her community, Dobrev took the opportunity to assist those in dire situations. Initially feeling overwhelmed about how to contribute, she researched how she could make a difference. She discovered that many shelters had enough clothing but were in need of financial aid for the wildfire victims.
"This is my plea to help," she stated in her video. "For my birthday, my only wish this year is that you help a family in need." Her heartfelt request invited her followers to join her in donating to communities that have been significantly affected by the fires.
Nina also highlighted that there are specific efforts to support Black families and historically marginalized groups in the Altadena area who are facing the brunt of this crisis. She encouraged her fans, saying, "If you have been seeing all of the pictures and videos online, and if you want to help too, please consider donating as well."
Wrapping up her message, she thanked her followers for their continual support and urged everyone to participate in the rebuilding process. "The road to rebuilding and healing for so many families who have lost everything starts now, and it will be a long one," she concluded.
Nina Dobrev is not alone in her concerns. Many other celebrities have also spoken out during this heartbreaking event, sharing their own experiences and encouraging support and donations to impacted communities.
