Odesza Set to Perform at Boulder's Folsom Field in Summer Concert Series

Published January 29, 2024

Boulder's iconic Folsom Field is gearing up to host a series of summer concerts, breaking a two-decade tradition of featuring only Dead & Company. This key event marks the stadium's expansion into hosting contemporary acts, with electronic music group Odesza among the headliners. For the first time, electronic music will be played on this historic ground, introducing a fresh sound to the venue's repertoire.

University of Colorado Boulder's senior associate athletic director, Ryan Gottlieb, expresses excitement for the upcoming events. He emphasizes how these performances will bring youthful energy to the venue with modern music styles. In particular, the addition of electronic music represents a bold new direction for Folsom Field concerts.

The announcement follows the reveal that Tyler Childers will also be gracing the venue with his country, bluegrass, and folk blend on August 17. Odesza's show is slated for June 29, a date set to be an historic moment for the field.

AEG Presents' co-president, Don Strasburg, who has been instrumental in coordinating the events with CU Boulder, shares his enthusiasm for diversifying Boulder's entertainment scene with these performances. Odesza's booking is significant, as it is the first new act since Dead & Company's last show in 2016. Prior to their residency, the field had not hosted concerts for 15 years, despite a legacy that saw performances from major acts like Fleetwood Mac, the Rolling Stones, and Paul McCartney in the '70s and '80s.

The university sees not only cultural but also economic benefits from holding concerts, as revenues support various campus departments and community enterprises. Concerts have a profound impact on local businesses, with hotels, restaurants, and shops enjoying considerable increases in activity. The economic gains were evident from the last Dead & Company shows, generating tens of millions of dollars in direct and total impact for Boulder's economy.

Both visitors and locals can expect these large-scale events to amplify the city's vibrancy. The Boulder Chamber's John Tayer looks forward to ensuring that the concerts offer a positive experience for everyone involved, from attendees to businesses. The chamber relishes the diversity these acts bring to Boulder's cultural landscape.

With tickets for Tyler Childers currently on sale, Odesza's ticket presales will commence shortly thereafter, promising fans the opportunity to experience a summer of vibrant and diverse musical acts at Folsom Field.
