High School Music Club Prepares for Debut Christmas Concert

In a display of musical dedication and passion, sophomores Ryan Pereira and Diego Rodriguez from Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy set out to create something more for music enthusiasts like themselves. Dissatisfied with only the school choir, they established Buckingham Music, a student-run music club designed to provide high schoolers with more opportunities to play instruments and sing.

Club's Inaugural Christmas Performance

Within just four months of its inception, Buckingham Music is now gearing up for its most prominent event to date - a Christmas concert set to be held at the Rowland Freedom Center. On December 23rd, almost half of the club's members will showcase their talents as they step into the limelight to delight audiences with cherished Christmas melodies.

A Special Venue with Military Significance

Diego Rodriguez is not a stranger to the Rowland Freedom Center; his volunteer work and subsequent employment as an office technician have made the venue a fitting stage for their concert. It is particularly appropriate for their premiere piece, 'Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24),' a well-known composition by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra that resonates with the historical backdrop of the aviation museum.

'This song's performance is meaningful to us, especially considering the military artifacts surrounding us,' said Pereira, emphasizing the significance of their chosen location.

Practice Makes Perfect

The musicians have been diligently practicing every week. Guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, and vocals harmonize as the group works hard to ensure a memorable performance to round off the year.

A Night of Music and Mirth

To augment the festive experience, the museum will not only be accessible to attendees for exploration, but also offer treats like popcorn, hot cocoa, and cookies supplied by Andrea’s Cookie Lab. The concert will commence at 5:30 p.m. with doors opening half an hour earlier. In the spirit of the holidays, there is no admission fee.
