Beyoncé Fans Express Anger Over Ticketmaster Issues and High Prices for Cowboy Carter Tour
Beyoncé fans are voicing their frustration after encountering significant problems with the ticket purchasing process through Ticketmaster. A technical glitch on the platform left thousands of eager fans waiting for tickets while they criticized the extremely high prices for seats.
The pop star is gearing up for her much-anticipated Cowboy Carter tour, which will feature shows in the United States before she heads to the UK and Europe in June.
Fans in the UK were particularly disappointed when the presale for tickets began. Many reported that they were unable to access the site due to what seemed like a crash on Ticketmaster's end.
Even after managing to get through to the ticket purchasing section, fans were shocked to find prices soaring to as much as £700 for each ticket. This sparked an outcry on social media, with one user named Mart Tweedy expressing disbelief at the pricing, labeling it an "absolute JOKE for seated Beyoncé tickets at Tottenham."
Another frustrated fan shared, "Been on Ticketmaster and waiting rooms all morning and do I have a Beyoncé ticket to my name? Of course not." Many users decided against purchasing tickets upon seeing the hefty prices, with one user, Simone, commenting that standing tickets would cost around £224.85, branding the situation as outrageous and opting out altogether.
The high demand for her tickets resulted in Ticketmaster increasing the number of shows, with Beyoncé now set to perform six nights at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London starting June 5. While initially four shows were announced, the addition of two more was a response to strong fan demand.
The pricing issues are especially prominent as Ticketmaster faces scrutiny for its dynamic pricing model, which has previously drawn criticism for elevating prices drastically for events, like the Oasis concert tickets that reportedly reached £355.
The Competition and Markets Authority is currently investigating the fairness of Ticketmaster's ticket selling practices following backlash from fans, who argue they were not presented with clear information regarding prices. Regulators are assessing whether customers felt pressured to buy rapidly at inflated prices. This ongoing situation has added to a series of controversies surrounding ticket sales in recent months.
In the upcoming Cowboy Carter tour, Beyoncé, who is now 43 years old, is expected to delight fans with her popular hits at the well-known stadium. This tour will accompany her eighth studio album, also titled Cowboy Carter.
As anticipation for the shows grows, many fans are left anxious about how to secure reasonably priced tickets amidst ongoing system glitches and overpriced offerings.
