Nikki Glaser Reviews Conan O'Brien's Oscars Hosting and Highlights Her Favorite Moment
Nikki Glaser recently shared her thoughts on the Academy Awards and provided a grade for Conan O'Brien's hosting performance. This came right after the awards ceremony, where she had previously kicked off the award season by hosting the Golden Globes.
While appearing on Live with Kelly & Mark, Glaser gave Conan O'Brien a glowing grade saying, "Last night, Conan… A+." She expressed her confidence in O'Brien, acknowledging his reputation for humor and saying, "We know he’s funny. We know he’s going to kill. We knew we were in good hands, but there was a silliness to it, with the sandworm playing the harp. There was wild stuff happening."
Glaser also commented on O'Brien's monologue, calling it "good" and appreciating that he took risks during his performance. She noted, "He did the Kendrick Lamar joke halfway through. They thought outside the box, and it was a traditional Oscar show, but Conan injected some silliness into it."
Favorite Moments from the Night
When asked about her favorite moment of the night, Glaser mentioned that "selfishly" her top pick was the ongoing joke between Adam Sandler and Timothée Chalamet, which she initially introduced at the Golden Globes in January. Glaser remarked, "I really loved when he was talking to Adam Sandler, and then Adam Sandler ran up to Timothée Chalamet and goes, 'Chalomeeeeet.' That was the joke I made at the Golden Globes. So I felt like a callback to my joke, and when I was watching it, I was like makes surprised expression. It was so awesome."
In addition to the Sandler-Chalamet joke, Glaser recalled feeling emotional at the performance by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who sang "Defying Gravity" from the Oscar-nominated film Wicked, stating, "It was so beautiful."
Earlier this year, Glaser humorously referenced Chalamet's name during her Golden Globes monologue, aligning Sandler with a playful pronunciation of Chalamet's name to get a laugh from the audience.
