Oliver Hudson Calls Out Goldie Hawn for Not Texting from Oscars
Oliver Hudson recently shared a humorous take on his mother Goldie Hawn's participation in the 2025 Oscars. During the ceremony on Sunday, March 2, Hawn, 79, presented an award alongside actor Andrew Garfield, who is 41.
Garfield touched many hearts, including Hawn's, with a heartfelt mention of her late mother during their on-stage interaction. He expressed that Hawn brought his mother "the most joy and the most comfort" before her passing in 2019. Garfield concluded his emotional speech by thanking Goldie from the bottom of his heart, to which she responded with gratitude.
After the Oscars, Hudson, 48, took to Instagram to share his feelings about the moment. He described Garfield's words as "so touching and unexpected." He humorously expressed concern that his mother might now prefer Garfield over him, stating, "I cried, I laughed, I swelled with pride and then became concerned that my mom was now gonna love Andrew Garfield more than me."
In a light-hearted twist, Hudson mentioned that he was unsure of his place in his mother's heart since she did not reply to his texts. He joked about her silence, saying, "She hasn’t responded to my texts so … ”, which added to his playful tone.
Goldie Hawn didn't leave her son hanging for long. She responded directly in the comments under Hudson's post, saying, "I’m sorry I didn’t answer your texts honey, I was talking to Andrew!!!" This brought a smile to fans, showcasing the fun relationship within the family.
Goldie Hawn shares Oliver and his sister Kate Hudson, 45, with her ex-husband Bill Hudson, and she also has a son, Wyatt Russell, 38, with her long-time partner Kurt Russell. Kurt, 73, walked the red carpet with Hawn at the Oscars. They both looked fantastic, with Hawn donning a shiny gold satin dress with bejeweled elements, embodying the opulence of the Oscar night.
On the red carpet, Garfield appeared in a dark brown suit and matching silk shirt. After the Oscars, he also attended the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, where he changed into a gray monochrome suit and had a joyful reunion with Jesse Eisenberg, his co-star from The Social Network.
Goldie Hawn and Andrew Garfield both have impressive film histories, with multiple Academy Award nominations. Hawn won an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 1970 for her role in Cactus Flower and received another nomination for her work in Private Benjamin.
Andrew Garfield has been nominated twice for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performances in Hacksaw Ridge in 2017 and Tick, Tick… Boom! in 2022.
