Mogwai to Debut Big City Festival Featuring Slowdive, Nadine Shah, and Others in Glasgow
Glaswegian post-rock band Mogwai has announced their self-curated Big City Festival to take place in their home city of Glasgow. The all-day event is scheduled for June 29 at Queen's Park, bringing together a diverse line-up of musicians, ranging from established acts to emerging talent. Concert-goers can expect tickets to go on sale at 9 am on February 9.
A Gathering of Musical Talents
Featuring 12 musical acts spread over two stages, Big City Festival will be characterized not only by its vibrant music lineup but also by a literary tent in partnership with White Rabbit Books. Attendees will be treated to a variety of licensed bars and food trucks, enhancing their festival experience.
Stuart Braithwaite, Mogwai's guitarist, has expressed enthusiasm and honor at being able to host the festival in their city, being joined by a slate of 'brilliant artists.' The roster includes influential shoegaze group Slowdive and singer-songwriter Nadine Shah, among others like Beak>, Michael Rother, Kathryn Joseph, bdrmm, Cloth, Elisabeth Elektra, Free Love, Goat Girl, and Sacred Paws.
A Showcase of Mogwai's Documentary
In related news, Mogwai recently disclosed a trailer for their new documentary 'If The Stars Had A Sound,' chronicling their journey from their early days to their current status. Directed by Antony Crook and produced by Kyrie MacTavish, the documentary will premiere at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, this March, capturing the band's evolution and their creation of the lockdown-produced tenth studio album.
The band also maintains its collaborative spirit, with Braithwaite recently contributing his guitar skills to Elisabeth Elektra's 'Broken Promises,' solidifying Mogwai's continuing influence and involvement in the broader music scene.
