Social Media: The Launchpad for Quebec Music Producer's Success

Published December 30, 2023

From Obscurity to Radio Hit-Maker

For a young talent like Mike Demero from the small town of Saint Colomban, Que., breaking into the music scene was a challenge. His journey began far away from the industry's centers of power, in his parents' basement, where no connection to the music world surrounded him. Yet, his parents supported him, giving him space to produce music, even at the early hours of 3 a.m. Despite the solitary start, Demero chose to drop out of school three years earlier to invest all his time into his passion for music.

The Role of Social Media in Shaping Careers

Demero's career took a turn when he started to make use of social media. He admits it played a critical part in his journey. Initially, he tried remixing popular songs, sharing them online to expand his reach and audience. It was through this platform that he encountered Aloe Blacc, who not only motivated him to start creating original music but also collaborated with him on his debut single.

The resulting track, "Night in Paris," which features Blacc's vocals, has dominated the Quebec radio charts for six weeks, propelling Demero to new heights and inspiring him to continue focusing on his music and art.

A Birthday Gig and the Promise of More Music

On the eve of his 24th birthday, Demero is set to perform at his first major event, a festival in Quebec City on December 31st. This milestone coincides with his birthday celebrations, promising to make the occasion even more memorable.

Fresh off the radio success and looking forward to the new year, Demero is anything but complacent. He has already collaborated with Canadian artist Keisza, known for the hit "Hideaway." They are expected to release their collaboration in January. Additionally, Demero has plans to release more songs he wrote in Los Angeles, confident in their potential to resonate with audiences globally.
