Foreigner and Styx Spearhead Classic Rock Revival with Upcoming 2024 Tour

Published December 13, 2023

In 2024, fans of classic rock are in for a treat as powerhouse bands Foreigner and Styx join forces for the 'Renegades and Juke Box Heroes Tour.' This wave of nostalgia-fueled concerts kicks off on June 11 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, signaling a robust resurgence of the genre. Foreigner's frontman, Kelly Hansen, shared their excitement about the co-headlining tour alongside Tommy Shaw of Styx, especially as it has been a decade since their last joint venture on the road. What's more, the tour is set to feature special guest John Waite, further adding to the appeal.

United Through Music

The upcoming tour not only serves as a reunion for these classic rock icons but also as an opportunity for unity. Shaw expressed a desire to bridge the divide between fans with different political perspectives through their shared love of music. In response to claims that rock music might be fading into obscurity, Rob Weiner, a pop culture librarian, strongly disagrees, citing the longevity of rock through live performances and classic radio stations that introduce the music to new generations.

Farewell Tours

Foreigner and Styx aren't the only ones embarking on major tours. The Eagles have announced their 'Long Goodbye' tour, pushing into 2024, with an emphasis on giving their fans one last memorable experience. Steely Dan also aligned with The Eagles for their farewell tour but faced challenges due to Donald Fagen's health issues. Aerosmith's 'Peace Out' tour experienced setbacks with Steven Tyler's health, postponing their dates to 2024. The band has extended their support to fans and promises an outstanding return to the stage.

The Rolling Stones and More

Defying expectations, The Rolling Stones are also back in action for a 2024 North American tour following their new album, 'Hackney Diamonds.' Despite the loss of their drummer Charlie Watts, the Stones' music continues to resonate with fans across the age spectrum. Additionally, Bruce Springsteen faced health concerns that led to the postponement of his tour into the new year, with the promise of a strong comeback.

Classic Rock Collaborations

Journey and Def Leppard are teaming up for a stadium tour, which will include appearances by legendary acts such as the Steve Miller Band, Heart, and Cheap Trick. This tour emphasizes collaboration and celebration of milestones, with Journey marking their 50th anniversary. Metallica also prepares to bring energy to the stage with their new album, '72 Seasons,' promising unique setlists for each city they visit.

The resurgence of classic rock tours emphasizes the undying appeal of the music and the dedication of these musicians to their craft and fans. Despite age or health setbacks, these bands demonstrate that rock will always have a place in the hearts and ears of listeners around the world.
