Beyonce Celebrates Linda Martell's Grammy Nomination
Beyonce has extended her congratulations to country music icon Linda Martell for her Grammy nomination after garnering an impressive 11 nominations herself.
The celebrated singer, aged 43, leads this year's nominations with her acclaimed country music album, Cowboy Carter. This album is a follow-up to her successful project, Renaissance, which is part of a planned trilogy.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Beyonce praised Martell, who has been nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance alongside her and Shaboozey for their single, Spaghettii. Additionally, Martell plays a significant role in the album with a spoken-word segment on the track The Linda Martell Show.
Beyonce made headlines during the previous Grammy ceremony in 2023, setting a record for the most awards won by any artist in history, with a total of 32 wins. Despite this remarkable achievement, she has yet to claim the highly sought-after Album of the Year award.
This year, Cowboy Carter has received nominations for Album of the Year and Best Country Album. Its single, Texas Hold ‘Em, is vying for multiple prestigious categories, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Country Song of the Year.
Other releases from the album include Bodyguard, nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance, and Levii’s Jeans, featuring Post Malone, which is up for Best Pop Duo Performance. Additionally, the track 16 Carriages received a nomination for Best Country Solo Performance, while II Most Wanted, featuring Miley Cyrus, is nominated for Best Country Duo Performance.
In the wider nominations, Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish each secured seven nominations, while Taylor Swift and newcomer Chappell Roan each garnered six. Eilish's nominations include her third studio album Hit Me Hard And Soft for Album of the Year; its track Birds Of A Feather is in contention for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
Sabrina Carpenter is another notable nominee with a Song of the Year nod for her piece Please Please Please. Her partner, the actor Barry Keoghan, expressed his admiration for her hard work and dedication during an interview.
Taylor Swift's latest release, the surprise double album The Tortured Poets Department, is also up for Album of the Year. A track featuring Post Malone, Fortnight, is nominated for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year, reflecting her continuing success.
British artists also made a significant impact, with Charli XCX's album Brat nominated for Album of the Year, and her song 360 up for Record of the Year. Raye, who received nods for Best New Artist and Songwriter of the Year, shared her emotional reaction to the nominations via social media.
This year’s Grammy Awards will include numerous talented artists who have made waves in the music industry. The annual ceremony is set to take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2 next year.
