Sissos: Bringing Vibrant Melodies to Intimate Venues

Published January 8, 2024

The commencement of this year's Small Hall Sessions features the talented Australian sisters, Georgie and Stephanie Fisher, known musically as Sissos. With the series having a modest start, the sisters are set to grace historic halls with their high-spirited and soul-stirring performances.

Event strategist, Jamie Macphail, has expressed genuine gratitude for the overwhelming support last season received from both attendees and performers. In a year filled with challenges, the Small Hall Sessions offered a retreat from life's turmoils, resonating deeply with many.

For the opening tour lasting three nights, Thursday sets the stage at Poukawa Hall, a quaint venue near Hastings. This performance marks the duo's debut in New Zealand, despite Georgie's past connections with local musicians during her brief residence in the country.

The Fisher sisters' repertoire is marked by infectious rhythms and soulful tones, made vibrant by their impeccably synchronized vocals. They recorded their first album, After All This Time, in 2019 at the famous Berlin-based Famous Gold Watch Studios.

Their musical journey has seen them captivating audiences across Europe and Asia, impressing with their lively performances and engaging storytelling, peppered with humor. They've entertained thousands and are expected to deliver the same level of performance at the Small Hall Sessions while visiting friends in New Zealand.

Macphail highlights that the sisters are not only gifted musicians but also engaging entertainers, promising evenings of laughter, community, and new music reflective of the Small Hall Session spirit.

With the second show already sold out at an old chapel and the tour concluding at Haumoana Community Hall, anticipation is high for the concerts beginning at 7:30pm after doors open at 6:30pm. Patrons can enjoy simple, nourishing fare and drinks from a temporary bar onsite.
