Published January 25, 2024

Universal Music Group (UMG) has revealed the creation of ‘UMusicLift,’ a new online hub that aims to foster innovation by offering support to startups rooted in the music industry. This platform is poised to function as a springboard for entrepreneurs and startups by providing them with valuable resources and helping them forge connections with UMG’s Digital Innovation team.

Unveiling UMusicLift

In a recent announcement at the Music Ally Connect conference, UMG's Senior Vice President of Digital Innovation Strategy and Business Development, Kristen Cullen Bender, introduced UMusicLift. The pre-launch stage of this platform promises to extend a range of aids, from educational content and industry news to insights and direct ways to engage with UMG’s policy makers.

Digital Transformation Accelerators

Kristen Cullen Bender emphasizes the platform's commitment to understanding and amplifying the needs of emerging businesses. UMusicLift primarily targets diversity and aims to hasten the digital evolution of the music landscape. By providing clear navigation through the organization and insight into necessary rights procurement, it also seeks to demystify the industry for its users.

Innovative Heritage

UMG's dedication to digital advancement is evident in initiatives like the UMG Accelerator Engagement Network, the Capitol360 Innovation Center, and Abbey Road RED, UMG’s music tech incubator. Abbey Road RED, in particular, showcases the profound impact of such efforts. Since its inception, it has boosted a number of businesses that have collectively raised substantial funds and reached impressive valuations.

Success Stories

The Abbey Road RED program stands out for facilitating the growth of startups such as the AI-driven LifeScore Music and the immersive metaverse provider XONE. Another notable participant is Audoo, a UK-based startup that has successfully attracted significant investment, with renowned figures like Sir Elton John backing it.
