How Taylor Swift and Jay-Z Celebrated Beyoncé's AOTY Win Together
At the 67th Grammy Awards held on February 2, 2025, Beyoncé made history by winning her first Album of the Year award for Cowboy Carter, marking her 35th Grammy award overall.
Following this remarkable achievement, Taylor Swift and Jay-Z took a moment to celebrate together. In a video shared on social media platform X, Taylor leaned over to Jay-Z, raising their champagne glasses in a toast as Beyoncé walked to the stage to accept the prestigious award. Jay-Z is the husband of Beyoncé and shares three children with her: 13-year-old Blue Ivy and 7-year-old twins Rumi and Sir.
Beyoncé’s emotions were evident as she approached the podium, reflecting on her journey to this moment after four previous nominations for albums such as I Am…Sasha Fierce, Beyoncé, Lemonade, and Renaissance. "I just feel very full and very honored," she expressed during her acceptance speech. She dedicated the award to her collaborator, country music icon Linda Martell, and expressed a desire for continued progress in the music industry. "It’s been many, many years—I hope we just keep pushing forward, opening doors,” she said.
The audience was equally moved, with notable artists like Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish visibly touched as they listened to Beyoncé’s heartfelt speech. During the ceremony, hosted by Trevor Noah at the Crypto.com Arena, Beyoncé also received two additional awards. Earlier in the evening, Taylor Swift presented her with the award for Best Country Album, and prior to the main ceremony, her duet with Miley Cyrus, titled "II Most Wanted," won Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
Beyoncé’s much-deserved Album of the Year win was particularly significant, given her previous snubs by the Recording Academy in this category, despite being the most awarded artist in Grammy history. Back in 2017, Adele, who won the award that year for 25, highlighted that Lemonade should have claimed the title, stating, "The artist of my life is Beyoncé. The Lemonade album was so monumental."
Most recently, after Beyoncé lost the award in 2023 to Harry Styles, Jay-Z voiced his belief that she deserved recognition. "She has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year, so even by your own metrics that doesn’t work," he remarked during the 2024 ceremony when accepting another award.
Beyoncé’s historical win was just one of the many highlights of the 2025 Grammy Awards.
