Three Exciting Music Events to Catch in Marin

Published January 11, 2024

Music lovers in Marin are in for a treat with a trio of exciting events showcasing a mix of folk-swing melodies, new EP releases, and local band performances. The enduring appeal of folk-swing resonates through the upcoming show by The Hot Licks. This beloved band, established by the late Dan Hicks of Mill Valley, is set to enrapture audiences with a live performance featuring Hicks’ signature tunes. Fans can catch the show at 8 p.m. tonight at the Throckmorton Theatre, with ticket prices ranging from $28 to $38.

Tribute to a Folk-Swing Legend

As darkness falls, the Throckmorton Theatre at 142 Throckmorton Ave. in Mill Valley will light up with the vibrant sounds of The Hot Licks. The night promises an intimate journey through Dan Hicks' musical legacy. For those interested in attending, tickets can be purchased through the theatre’s website.

Wreckless Strangers’ Dinner Show Extravaganza

Adding to the weekend's entertainment, the Bay Area's very own Wreckless Strangers are all set to play tunes from their new EP, “Orange Sky Dream.” The six-piece ensemble will perform a dinner show at 8 p.m. Saturday at Rancho Nicasio. While the $23 ticket guarantees entry, it doesn’t include the cost of dinner, which can be reserved between 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets for this event are available online at the Rancho Nicasio website.

Marin Bands Rock Buck Lucky Fest

Continuing the musical festivities, Marin's own bands Starchild and SourFlower are gearing up to rock the second annual Buck Lucky Fest. The event, put together by Lena Claypool of the Buck Lucky Collective, promises an evening filled with incredible live music at Ghiringhelli’s The Venue. The show kicks off at 6 p.m. on January 20, at 1535 South Novato Blvd. in Novato, with a modest $5 admission fee at the door. Event-goers can RSVP through the Buck Lucky Collective's events webpage.
