Neon Night at Garcia’s Lights Up Amherst With Dynamic Performances

Published March 6, 2024

A trio of talented musical acts, Rickety Milling, Melovictoria, and Noddery, lit up the evening at Garcia's Mexican Restaurant and Bar in Amherst with an electrifying set filled with neon vibes.

An Evening of Neon and Music

Hosted by Queen of Hearts Booking, the event started with guests receiving glow sticks upon entry, setting a neon scene for the night ahead. Transforming part of the restaurant into a makeshift concert area, a small stage and disco lights awaited the eager audience of roughly 15 people, many of whom were friends of the performers. The music kicked off around 9:30 p.m. to a group of diners who chose to stay back for the live entertainment. Rickety Milling, also known as Eric Miller, opened the night vibrantly clad in orange and sporting a pink hair bow. His performance, which featured a voice box and keytar, included a version of Harry Styles' 'As it Was' and had the crowd grooving along.

His set was a fitting match for the neon theme, with his talk box antics bringing a friendly and engaging atmosphere that resonated well with the listeners. Melovictoria came on next, with lead vocalist Vic Grous commanding attention through her expressive and unrestrained performance style. Her voice channeled the raw energy of Riot Grrrl legends. The audience transformed from swaying to forming a small mosh pit, fully engaged by the band's fervent set. Drummer Aidan Cavanaugh's solo captivated the crowd as the set moved seamlessly from song to song.

Wrapping Up the Night

The final act was Noddery, a group made up of University of Massachusetts students, embodying a blend of alt-rock with their mix of covers and original tracks. Their camaraderie was evident, both in interviews and on stage, revealing a close-knit dynamic that added to their appeal. Their Spotify release 'Strides' was among the originals they played, which alongside covers like 'Be My Girl' by Jet and eagerly anticipated 'Runaway Baby' by Bruno Mars, showcased their varied and energetic style.

The night at Garcia’s wrapped up with an impressive collaboration among the artists, leaving the venue buzzing with the afterglow of neon lights and the audience thrilled by the memorable performances.
