Arcade Fire Announces Limited Shows for ‘Funeral’ 20th Anniversary

Published February 7, 2024

In celebration of 20 years since their influential debut, Funeral, Arcade Fire has revealed the initial dates for a series of special anniversary shows. The band has taken to social media, inviting fans to partake in this milestone. The phrase Black tie optional; should be Real Fun encapsulates the spirit of the celebrations.

Announcement of the Anniversary Shows

Win Butler, Régine Chassagne, Richard Reed Parry, Tim Kingsbury, and Jeremy Gara make up the ensemble known as Arcade Fire. They have planned a 'limited number' of performances to pay homage to their debut album, Funeral, released in 2004. The group's announcement came via Instagram, extending an invitation to followers to this commemorative event.

Concert Dates and Ticket Information

So far, two dates have been confirmed: July 2 at the Fiera Milano in Rho, Italy, and July 7 at Malahide Castle in Dublin, Ireland. Echo And The Bunnymen are set to appear as special guests for the Dublin show. More details about additional dates and guests are expected to be announced shortly.

A pre-sale for the Italy concert is already underway with the use of the code funeral20, and tickets for the Dublin show will be available to pre-order starting on February 14, also using the same code.

Legacy of Funeral

Merge Records was the launching pad for Funeral, and it went on to receive a Grammy nomination and widespread praise, often being cited as one of the greatest albums of all time. The previous full album performance took place in 2018, which saw the band playing the album from start to finish in Los Angeles.

Controversy Surrounding Win Butler

The band's celebration comes amidst recent controversy involving frontman Win Butler, who was accused of sexual misconduct. Butler has responded to these accusations, claiming all interactions were consensual and expressing regret for any hurt he may have caused.

Looking Ahead

Festival enthusiasts can also look forward to Arcade Fire's performances in summer 2024, including a spot at Bilbao BBK Live. This festival lineup features a host of other popular artists and groups, offering a vibrant mix of music for attendees.
