Published December 8, 2023

Ice Cube promised his fans an authentic taste of 'California Love', and the hip-hop heavyweight stayed true to his pledge at the High Rollers Tour's electric stop in Manchester at the AO Arena on December 8.

Electric Performances Despite Line-up Change

The much-anticipated High Rollers Tour was advertised to feature a line-up of West Coast legends including Cypress Hill, Ice Cube, and The Game, but a twist in events saw The Game being replaced by the Detroit group D12, renowned for their ties with the rap icon Eminem.

D12, now a trio, showcased their prowess with Swifty, McVay, and Kuniva delivering riveting renditions of hits like 'My Band' and 'Purple Pills'. In a heartfelt salute to the late Proof, a founding member of D12, his son Nasaan Holton took to the stage to perform his father's parts, against a backdrop of nostalgic video clips.

Cypress Hill Captivates the Crowd

Following D12's engaging act, Cypress Hill raised the bar with their distinct blend of rhymes and rhythms. DJ Lord, percussionist Eric Bobo, and rappers Sen Dog and B-Real had the audience rapt with a mix of their top tracks, succeeding with crowd pleasers like 'Dr Green Thumb' and the iconic 'Insane in the Membrane'. An energetic cover of 'Jump Around' rounded off their set with an explosive buzz.

Ice Cube: A Force of Nature on Stage

As Ice Cube took to the stage, he projected a commanding presence that ripped through the venue with songs like 'Straight Outta Compton' and 'It Was A Good Day'. Backed by the hyping vocals of Dub C, Cube intermixed tales and teasers that bridged generations of hip-hop fans in one unified experience.

The phenomenal show spanned one remarkable night, connecting the audience to the roots of a genre that has shaped the music world for decades, allowing many to revisit their formative years through the enduring power of rap legends.
