RACE Dance Collective Hosts Disco-Themed Fundraiser in Oklahoma City

Published January 23, 2024

Get ready to dust off your dancing shoes and boogie to disco beats this weekend in Oklahoma City, as the RACE Dance Collective invites you to a night filled with rhythm and grooves. The fundraiser event, centered around the iconic vibe of a New York nightclub that transitioned into a Broadway theater, aims not only to entertain but also to support the communal dance education initiatives of RACE Dance Collective.

Studio 54 Disco Party for a Cause

The party is set to take place on Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Yale Theater. It's not just a night for dancing—it's also a celebration of RACE founder Hui Cha Poos' 54th birthday, with all the funds gathered going towards the development of the collective’s home, RACE the Space. Attendees can expect a night filled with music, courtesy of DJ Nymasis, hosted bars, and surprise pop-up performances.

RACE Dance Collective's Growth

The collective, established in 2009, has since become an integral part of the community, connecting over 7,000 people annually. These include artists, community partners, and dance students, who all benefit from the nearly 350 community classes and youth training programs RACE offers each year. The creation of a dedicated space in northeast Oklahoma City is a physical testament to the collective’s ongoing mission and expansion.

For those interested in joining the disco fever and supporting the cause, tickets for the Studio 54 Disco Party begin at $100. The event is proudly sponsored by Wanderfolk Craft Spirits and Capitol Distributing.
