Published March 7, 2024

The 2024 Halifax Jazz Festival has unveiled its lineup of headline acts, with legendary country music star Emmylou Harris leading the roster. The acclaimed artist, a 14-time Grammy award winner and Country Music Hall of Fame inductee, is set to grace the festival's main stage on July 11. Known for her significant contributions to country music and collaborations with top artists like Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, Harris continues to touch hearts with her music.

Star-Studded Lineup

Alongside Emmylou Harris, the festival will feature performances by other renowned artists. The indie pop sensation Fitz and the Tantrums are scheduled to perform on July 12, bringing their platinum-certified hits like 'HandClap' and 'The Walker' to the stage. Canadian blues powerhouse Matt Anderson, together with The Big Bottle of Joy, as well as the Grammy-nominated duo The War and Treaty, are also set to deliver unforgettable performances.

More Than Music

While the main stage on Lower Water Street remains a focal point, the Halifax Jazz Festival extends its reach to other local venues such as The Carleton and St. Matt’s. These spots will host a variety of performers throughout the week, including Maryna Krut, Avataar, Laura Anglade, Julian Lage Trio, and Emmet Cohen Trio, further celebrating the diversity of jazz and related genres.

Since its inception in 1987, the TD Halifax Jazz Festival has grown to become Atlantic Canada's largest summer festival and the oldest jazz festival in the region. It attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually and showcases a mix of local talent alongside international stars, contributing to its reputation as a not-to-be-missed cultural event.
