Little Rock Public Radio Celebrates 50th Anniversary at The Rep

Published December 7, 2023

Marking half a century of broadcasting, Little Rock Public Radio has announced the celebration of its 50th anniversary with an array of activities scheduled at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre today. The radio station, known to many by its frequencies KUAR FM 89.1 and KLRE FM 90.5, has recently undergone a rebranding and is commemorating this milestone alongside the community.

Festivities Commence with Happy Hour

The celebration begins at 4 p.m., featuring a happy hour where attendees can socialize, a ceremonial cake cutting to mark the occasion, and a silent auction showcasing various items of interest. The event promises to be an engaging prelude to the evening's main attraction.

'Code Switch' Live Taping Sold Out

Highlighting the event at 6 p.m. is a live taping of the well-known NPR podcast, Code Switch, which delves into topics of race and culture. This special episode will be thematically centered around Little Rock. The hosts, B.A. Parker, Gene Demby, and Lori Lizarraga, will lead the session which has already garnered considerable interest, resulting in a sold-out status.

While tickets for the Code Switch podcast taping are no longer available, the public is still encouraged to join in the earlier activities where no admission is required.
