"Sunset Boulevard" Takes Center Stage

Nicole Scherzinger's transformative performance earned her a nomination for best actress in a musical, while Tom Francis is up for best actor. With its sights set on Broadway later this year, Jamie Lloyd's production could become an international success.

"Dear England" Scores Nine Nominations

Close behind in the nominations count is "Dear England", a play that chronicles the ups and downs of England's national soccer team. Notably, Joseph Fiennes has received a nod for best actor for his portrayal of Gareth Southgate, the coach credited with the team’s recent upswing.

Besides Scherzinger and Fiennes, other familiar faces include Andrew Scott, nominated for his role in the one-man Chekhov adaptation "Vanya", and Sarah Jessica Parker, acclaimed for her performance in Neil Simon's comedy "Plaza Suite". Sarah Snook and Sophie Okonedo are also named among the distinguished list of nominees.

Musicals and Plays Vying for Top Honors

The competition for best musical performance is fierce, with contenders such as Daniel Mays and Marisha Wallace for "Guys and Dolls". The nominees for best new play also create a compelling lineup, featuring works from esteemed playwrights like Jez Butterworth and Jack Thorne.

New musicals are also in the spotlight, with "The Little Big Things", "Next to Normal", and "A Strange Loop" battling it out for the coveted title of best new musical.
