Ukrainian Musician Maryna Krut Embarks on Canadian Tour with a Concert in Kelowna for Charity

Published January 14, 2024

Maryna Krut, a celebrated Ukrainian musician, is set to perform in Kelowna as a part of her Canadian charitable tour. Krut is renowned for her mastery of the Bandura, a traditional Ukrainian instrument with 65 strings. The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21 at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, promising a 'unique' performance for attendees.

Nurturing Talent and Bringing Aid

Denys Storozhuk, the founder of Kelowna Stands with Ukraine, speaks highly of Krut's unique approach to music, noting her blend of English and Ukrainian songs, and her music's deep connection with the current events in Ukraine. The artist’s solo tour will include over 20 cities in eight Canadian provinces, marking her first tour in the country.

Contributions for a Cause

The Kelowna event, along with other stops on the tour, will serve a purpose beyond entertainment. Funds raised from ticket sales, a feature auction, and offerings from Ukrainian food trucks outside the venue will contribute to the purchase of medical equipment for frontline workers in Ukraine. Storozhuk also mentioned the possibility of featuring local Ukrainian dancers during the opening act of the Kelowna concert.

Experience a Musical Phenomenon

Storozhuk emphasizes the rarity and intricacy of playing an instrument like the Bandura and encourages music enthusiasts to witness Krut's performance. With her tour sounding a note of support for Ukraine, the musician aims to captivate audiences while making a profound humanitarian impact.
