Kingston Welcomes Peter and the Wolf and Carnival of the Animals for a Family-Friendly Musical Experience

KINGSTON- The esteemed Mayor Steven T. Noble together with Kingston's Department of Arts & Cultural Affairs are excited to present the enchanting musical event featuring the classic works, Peter and the Wolf and Carnival of the Animals, on March 30, 2024, at the historic Old Dutch Church. Embraced as a family-friendly experience, the event is free to the public and scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

Stellar Performances on the Horizon

The captivating afternoon will showcase the talents of exceptional storyteller David Gonzalez and the renowned pianist Frederick Chiu. Sergei Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf will be delivered with the expert narrative talent of Gonzalez and the sensitive piano accompaniment by Chiu. This will be followed by an engaging performance of Camille Saint-Saƫns' celebrated Carnival of the Animals, offering a series of musical impressions of assorted wildlife, such as The Tortoise, The Swan, and Wild Horses.

Community Enthusiasm for the Arts

Mayor Noble expressed delight in hosting this communal program again, citing its popularity and encouraging attendees to enjoy the event, made possible by the City of Kingston's Department of Arts & Cultural Affairs and Old Dutch Church's collaboration. A multifaceted artist of Cuban/Puerto Rican descent, David Gonzalez is celebrated for his diverse talents that span music, storytelling, and the performing arts, holding a doctorate in Music Therapy. Frederick Chiu, a pianist of international acclaim, is known for his extensive recordings of Prokofiev's piano works and his dedication to community through Beechwood Arts & Innovation. Their contributions promise an unforgettable musical afternoon at the Old Dutch Church.
