Vampire Weekend Returns with New Music and Announces North American Tour

Published February 16, 2024

Fans' five-year wait is finally over as Vampire Weekend, the band composed of Ezra Koenig, Chris Baio, and Chris Tomson, herald their comeback with fresh tracks: "Capricorn" and "Gen-X Cops." These songs serve as the opening taste of their highly anticipated album, Only God Was Above Us, set to release on April 5th through Columbia Records, with pre-orders now open.

New Album and Songs

Their upcoming album, Only God Was Above Us, is presented with two distinct previews. "Capricorn," created by Koenig and produced alongside Ariel Rechtstaid, begins with soothing melodies that build up to an energetic chorus. On the other side, "Gen-X Cops," a collaboration between Koenig and Tomson, captures a retro vibe with an upbeat rhythm, with both tracks getting their music videos rooted in vintage footage of New York by photographer Steven Siegel. The album promises a mix of physical and digital formats, featuring unique cover variations and special vinyl editions.

Extensive Tour Plans

Accompanying the album release, Vampire Weekend announces a mammoth North American tour produced by Live Nation. Spanning 39 dates, the tour will include performances at renowned venues like Berkeley's Greek Theater, Madison Square Garden, and several others, with special matinee shows planned. The tour boasts a selection of handpicked supporting acts for every region, emphasizing local contributions and band favorites. Fans can look out for ticket presales, with early access available on the band's official website.
