Fado Nights Concert Series to Enliven Dom Pedro V Theatre in March

Published February 2, 2024

The cultural landscape of March is set to be adorned with the mesmerizing sounds of traditional Portuguese music as the 'Fado Nights' concert series graces the historic Dom Pedro V Theatre. Set to take place over the weekends from March 1st to the 24th, a dozen performances will showcase the rich tradition of fado music to attendees.

An Immersive Fado Experience

Each weekend will bring attendees into the heartfelt world of fado, a music genre known for its expressive and profoundly melancholic character. Portuguese fado singers Tiago Correia and Bárbara Santos are slated to headline solo acts as well as collaborative duets, captivating audiences with their passion and vocal prowess.

The Sound of Tradition and Fusion

Adding to the evocative vocal performances, the concerts will also feature a variety of light instrumental music pieces. The artists will play the Portuguese guitar, a staple in fado music, alongside other instruments such as the violin, saxophone, and piano. This year, the traditional Chinese Yangqin will also be included, offering a unique fusion of cultural sounds.
