Madonna Prepares for Legal Battle with Fans Over Concert Delays

Published January 25, 2024

Pop icon Madonna is gearing up to confront legal challenges after being accused of tardiness by aggravated fans. Her team has made it clear that they will take a firm stance against the allegations. Two fans, who experienced a considerable delay at her New York concert last month, are initiating a lawsuit against the star.

Late Concert Start Times Lead to Legal Complaint

These fans claim that the concert's late start time, exceeding two hours, would have been a dealbreaker for their ticket purchase had they been informed in advance. Technical difficulties are the purported reasons behind this delay, as stated by Madonna's representatives and the event promoter, Live Nation.

Representatives to Defend Case 'Vigorously'

A collective statement from Madonna's camp acknowledged the hiccup during the soundcheck on December 13th, attributing it to the delayed showtime. They are determined to 'vigorously defend' against the lawsuit filed by Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden. Despite the issues faced in the North American leg, the statement boasted about the positive feedback received during the European leg of the tour.

Fans Demand Accountability for Misrepresentations

The legal action brought against Live Nation and Barclays Center accuses them of 'false advertising, negligent misrepresentation, and unfair and deceptive trade practices.' Both fans attended the December 13th show and noted the start time was significantly later than scheduled. The lawsuit highlights that this wasn't an isolated incident, with other shows also kicking off with similar delays.

Madonna, known as the 'Queen of Pop,' has had a history of delay-filled performances, as the court documents point out, referring to her past tours where concerts often started much later than expected. The plaintiffs are now seeking unspecified damages for the inconveniences caused.
