Rock Icon Kim Gordon Releases New Single “Bye Bye” from Upcoming Album

Published January 16, 2024

Kim Gordon, esteemed musician and visual artist, is making a compelling return with her sophomore solo album titled The Collective, set to debut on March 8th via Matador Records. Fans are already given a glimpse into the album with the release of its lead single “BYE BYE”, which features a captivating bassline that leads listeners on a metaphorical journey through a list of haunting personal items. This single paves the way for what promises to be an enthralling new project from Gordon.

New Horizons in ‘The Collective’

The Collective marks a new era for Kim Gordon, following her 2019 debut No Home Record. The album is a collaboration with producer Justin Raisen, known for his work with a slew of artists across various genres. Together with additional production from Anthony Paul Lopez, they create a sound that's a patchwork of damaged, unnerving dub fused with trap elements that perfectly complements Gordon's iconic vocal delivery and her knack for crafting word collages that explore the themes of communication, subliminal commercial influences, and the bombardment of the senses in modern life.

“BYE BYE” Video and Tour Dates

To accompany the single, a video for “BYE BYE”, featuring Coco Gordon Moore and directed by Clara Balzary, further enhances the track's mesmerizing aura. Fans eager to experience Kim Gordon's new material live can look forward to a series of six concerts coinciding with the release of The Collective, kicking off on March 21st in Burlington, VT.
