Taylor Swift Surpasses Elvis Presley with Most Weeks at No. 1 on Billboard 200

Published January 2, 2024

Taylor Swift has achieved another milestone in her stellar music career by breaking the record for the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, previously held by rock and roll legend Elvis Presley. As of the latest count, Swift's total number of weeks at the summit has reached 68, thanks to the resounding success of her re-recorded album '1989 (Taylor’s Version).' This feat makes Swift the solo artist with the most weeks at No.1, trailing only behind The Beatles, who have held the top position for 132 weeks.

Taylor Swift's Chart-Topping Journey

Swift's '1989 (Taylor’s Version),' a reimagined version of her 2014 pop crossover success, concluded the year by topping the Billboard 200 for the final two weeks. Since its release in October, the album has boasted an impressive 2.8 million in sales and over a billion streams in the U.S. alone. The latest numbers show the album having 98,000 sales, including 61,000 complete package copies and 48.5 million streams.

Competition on the Charts

The rest of the Top 10 is filled with seasonal holiday albums with Michael Bublé's 'Christmas' taking the second spot, and other classics from Nat King Cole, Phil Spector, Mariah Carey, and Pentatonix also featured. With the holiday season over, these albums are likely to drop in the rankings. Additionally, this week has seen strong performances from Nicki Minaj's 'Pink Friday 2' at No. 3 and Morgan Wallen's 'One Thing at a Time' at No. 5.
