The 2024 Season Debuts with Munich Symphony Members

The 2024 season of the Fortuna Concert Series is set to begin on March 9 with a classical chamber music performance featuring two eminent members from Germany's Munich Symphony Orchestra. Bassoonist Friedrich Edelmann and cellist Rebecca Rust will grace the stage along with pianist Dmitriy Cogan for an evening of classical repertoire starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Fortuna Monday Club. Located at 610 Main St., Fortuna, tickets are available for $15 at the door, with the option for season tickets at $100.

World-Class Musicians Reunite for the Opening

Friedrich Edelmann, an acclaimed bassoonist, and his wife, cellist Rebecca Rust, return to the Fortuna stages after their well-received performance in 2011, accompanied by San Francisco's distinguished pianist, Dmitriy Cogan. Michael McClimon, a board member of the Fortuna Concert Series, highlights the stature and skill of these returning artists.

Diverse Musical Offerings Throughout the Season

As the 2024 season unfolds, audiences can look forward to a myriad of musical experiences. The upcoming April 13 event will showcase the enchanting sounds of Celtic harps played by Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter. Following this, the Scotia Ragtime Band will offer a lively accompaniment to Buster Keaton's silent film 'One Week' on May 11. Their long-awaited performance comes after being previously postponed in 2020.

June welcomes the Peruvian group Huayllipacha, infusing traditional and contemporary Andean music into the series. Come July, Jimmy Durchslag's Latin Peppers will ignite the stage, with the SoHum Girls taking over in August. The season concludes with violinist Tom Stone and pianist Daniela Mineva's chamber music in September, and the Pitts Family Quartet offering a broad array of classical and modern tunes in October.

The Fortuna Concert Series' Historic Journey

Since its inception in 1990 by community volunteers, the Fortuna Concert Series has become a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing exceptional music to the local stage. Now in its 33rd season, it continues to offer a mix of local talents and international guests, all contributing to an unparalleled musical experience. Amidst the anticipation for this year's performances, McClimon reminds enthusiasts, "Don't miss this wonderful season. We have a great line-up."
