Marin Center Attracts Music Enthusiasts with Amigo Bay Area Guitar Show

Published January 14, 2024

The Amigo Bay Area Guitar Show started off with a buzz of excitement as guitar enthusiasts gathered at the Marin Center Exhibit Hall this past weekend. The event, spread over two days - Saturday and Sunday, Jan 13 and 14, 2024, has become a significant attraction for musicians and collectors alike, displaying an array of guitars from vintage pieces to custom models.

Guitar Aficionados Converge in San Rafael

Visitors from across the Bay Area, such as Joey Torres from San Bruno and Brad Bicknair from Antioch, were seen admiring the craftsmanship of the instruments on display. Danny Click, a craftsman from San Rafael, was among the exhibitors engaging with attendees, providing insights into his custom electric guitars. The event allowed for interactive experiences as musicians, including East Bay's T. Lee, carefully examined the fine wood finishes of guitars like those from Santa Cruz Guitar Company.

Live Demonstrations and Guitar Test Drives

Continuing to strike a chord with the visitors, Jim Johnson of Modesto showcased his skills by playing a classic Lynyrd Skynyrd tune on a Duesenberg Starplayer TV Custom guitar. Such live demonstrations underscored the high quality of the instruments and provided a soundtrack to the event. Additionally, Eric Naragon and his friend Ramon Hernandez from Santa Rosa created an immersive experience by testing out the tones of a Fender Stratocaster, further highlighting the hands-on aspect of the show.

The success of the Amigo Bay Area Guitar Show is not just a testament to the vibrant guitar culture, but also to the community of musicians and enthusiasts who share a common passion for the instrument. With the curtains closed on this year's event at the Marin Center, guitarists and fans are already looking forward to what next year's show will unveil.
