Bay City Rollers to Rock Bilston with Tartan and Nostalgia

Published February 7, 2024

As the calendar turns to March, the Bay City Rollers, a legendary Scottish band, are gearing up to bring a 1970s nostalgia-filled night to Bilston. Famous for their tartan attire and catchy tunes, the group promises an evening of old favorites and fresh tracks at the Robin on March 8.

Rollermania Returns to the West Midlands

One of the original members from the iconic 1970s lineup, Stuart 'Woody' Wood, has excitedly shared that fans will be in for a treat. Known for chart-toppers like 'Shang-a-Lang', 'Bye Bye Baby', and 'Give a Little Love', the band's contemporary lineup—still proudly all-Scottish—is set to deliver energetic performances, including songs from their recently released EP and an upcoming album scheduled for a mid-2024 release.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Stuart Wood, joining the Bay City Rollers in 1973, has seen the band's rise to global fame, selling over 300 million albums with a fan base committed enough to don kilts and tartan in homage. The phenomenon, known as Rollermania, paralleled the earlier Beatlemania. This enduring loyalty was on display last year when Woody and John McLaughlin from the current lineup sang 'Sunshine on Leith' at a Rod Stewart concert, moving the Edinburgh Castle audience of 8,000 fans.

A Personal Invitation to Fans

Wood, now back living in his native Edinburgh, cherishes the band's journey and deep connection with fans across generations. Alongside the promise of playing their iconic hits, Woody makes a special request for attendees to embrace the Rollers' spirit by wearing tartan to the concert.

For fans looking forward to this blast from the past in the West Midlands, the event offers an opportunity to experience live the timeless appeal of the Bay City Rollers' music and the cultural legacy they carry as a symbol of Scottish pride.
