Liam Gallagher Remains Firm on His Stance Regarding Oasis's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nomination

Published February 28, 2024

Liam Gallagher, known for his unfiltered opinions, has reinforced his critical views on Oasis's nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The former lead vocalist of the iconic rock band, which also included his brother Noel until their split in 2009, has expressed his disdain for the award, referring to it as a 'wank award' given out by 'some geriatric in a cowboy hat'.

Gallagher's Take on the Nomination

Gallagher previously voiced his dismissive thoughts on the Hall of Fame when the nomination list was revealed on February 10, describing the institution as 'full of bumbaclarts'. He expanded on these comments in a recent interview with The Sunday Times, asserting that his contributions to rock'n'roll surpass those of 'half of them clowns on that board'.

Despite being grouped with other acclaimed artists such as Mariah Carey, Cher, Mary J Blige, Sade, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest, Gallagher remains unmoved, suggesting an incongruity between their musical genres and his own. He openly rejected the association, comparing it to 'putting me in the rap hall of fame'.

Upcoming Projects and Performances

In the midst of these statements, Gallagher is gearing up to release a new album in collaboration with Stone Roses guitarist John Squire. Ahead of their album launch, slated for March 1, they will embark on a sold-out tour starting at Glasgow's Barrowlands.

Furthermore, Gallagher is preparing to headline a solo tour this summer, promising performances of Oasis's seminal album Definitely Maybe, in celebration of its 30th anniversary. He shared his excitement for the upcoming album, assuring fans of both Oasis and the Stone Roses that they 'will f***ing love it' and describing it as 'spiritual' and 'crucial'.

Despite rumors and some playful social media posts by Gallagher himself hinting at a possible Glastonbury appearance, insiders have quashed such speculations as nothing more than the rocker's typical antics.
