Belgrade's Balkan Cinema Hosts Meta World Festival

The second edition of the Meta World festival dedicated to contemporary art is scheduled to take place from December 9 to December 15 at the Balkan Cinema in Belgrade.

Discover Contemporary Creation Across Various Fields

The festival aims to showcase modern creativity in diverse areas of expression. Beyond music, painting, theater, and fashion design, the event will include works involving cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, gaming, and more.

More Than Just Performances

Besides concerts, installations, and presentations, the Meta World festival will host discussions on current hot topics, ensuring that issues like gender equality are not left out.

The inaugural Meta World festival, held in December 2022, attracted around 3,000 attendees and featured 50 artists from Serbia and beyond. Founded by the Metamorphosis ensemble and Tatjana Jovanović Mirković and Saša Mirković, the event has quickly garnered a keen following.

Internationally Acclaimed Artists to Perform

Attendees can look forward to performances from world-renowned artists such as Marc Sinan Company from Berlin, Duo Lab 51 from Karlsruhe, Grammy Award-winner Kayhan Kalhor, the famed kamancheh player, European electro-music luminary Gabriel Prokofiev, and Serbia's own leading fashion designer, Dragana Ognjenović.

Fostering Access to Contemporary Art

The festival's goal is to bring modern creativity to a broad audience and make wide-ranging art accessible to all, while also promoting Serbian contemporary creation at home and on the international stage.

Metamorphosis Ensemble's Pivotal Role

Since its inception in 2005, the Metamorphosis ensemble has been a prominent force in presenting Serbian and international art music, establishing itself as Serbia's leading orchestra in this genre. Collaborating with composer Goran Bregović for over a decade, they've gained significant experience through performances worldwide.

This year, the ensemble launched the Metamorphosis Orchestra Academy to provide an educational platform for youths aged 16 to 30, enriching their skills and practice in the arts.
