Amex Gold Unsigned Celebrates Emerging Musicians with Live Showcase and a DJ Set by Mike Skinner

Published December 11, 2023

Last month, Amex Gold Unsigned rolled out a dynamic live music showcase at The Dome in Tufnell Park, marking a significant step in their new campaign to support rising unsigned artists and the essential grassroots venues that nurture their talent.

Highlighting Fresh Talent

The event featured six handpicked acts from the slew of hopefuls that submitted their work. These performers had the privilege of gracing the stage in the refreshed surroundings of the iconic London music hall, thanks to a meticulous selection process by the Amex Gold Unsigned panel.

The series of performances commenced with Kent-based indie-rock band BABY, setting the tone for the evening. Kianja, a gifted product of the BRIT School, conveyed empathetic themes through her music, while Simon A's set married the reflective art of spoken word with rap's rhythm, critiquing social media's pervasive influence. Abz Winter from Coventry unleashed her latest single in a vibrant performance, and the showcase wrapped up with strong displays of artistry by Riya Gadher and Harleighblu.

Industry Support and Venue Enhancement

At the event, BBC Introducing's Jess Iszatt, one of the panelists, highlighted the importance of nurturing new artists during their developmental stages and encouraged audience support. Furthermore, representatives from The Dome, Iain Scott and Sally Hipwell, shared their enthusiasm with NME about the venue's refurbishment and its future role in accommodating a wider array of musical genres, emphasizing the importance of diversity in the live music scene.

Adding a layer of excitement to the evening, The Streets' frontman Mike Skinner spun tracks in a DJ set, celebrating the night's successful showcase of music and talent discovery.
