Southern Rock Band Wayland Debuts 'On The Way' Album

Published March 19, 2024

The Southern rock ensemble known as WAYLAND has recently pleased fans with the unveiling of their newest album titled “On The Way”. A promotional event took place at the renowned Gibson Garage last Friday, where the music industry got an exclusive showcase of the fresh tracks. Along with the album release, fans were treated to three singles that the band had previously launched, namely “Way Back When,” “Other End,” and “Waters,” each showcasing the distinctive blend of Americana and Rock that WAYLAND is celebrated for.

The album offers a rich variety of 14 songs, amongst which are the contemplative “Vancouver” and the high-powered “Kamikaze.” The group's frontman Mitchel Arnold along with lead guitarist Phillip Vilenski embarked on their musical journey after working with Bill and Robyn Brawley of Heart Global to teach children music across the globe. After their stint in the UK, the duo returned with a batch of original songs and set out on a mission to cultivate a dedicated fanbase.

Over a period of seven years, WAYLAND toured independently, selling out shows throughout the Midwest, serving as the opening act for various renowned artists, performing at major rock festivals, and establishing connections with radio networks nationwide by presenting their harmonies live on-air. Their accolades include winning two Sixthman Cruise competitions, thus securing performances on the Kiss Kruise and Bon Jovi Cruise.

Welcome To My Head and Reno are among WAYLAND's chart-reaching singles, with additional hits like Get A Little and Bloody Sunrise achieving notable rankings on iTunes and media base active rock charts. Their collaboration with Brent Smith and Zach Meyers of Shinedown for the single “Ghost” also earned them a spot at #28 on the BDS active rock chart.

Having taken a break from touring, WAYLAND focused on their sound development in Burbank, California, at the MDDN Studios owned by Good Charlotte's Benji and Joel Madden. Here, they recorded an EP and eventually moved to Nashville, where they honed their craft at Apple Music Studios and Spotify Noteable Studios. This caught the attention of celebrity chef Guy Fieri, leading to their appearance on his shows All American Road Trip and Diner's Drive-Ins and Dives.

WAYLAND's collaboration with Guy and Hunter Fieri culminated in the music video for “Summer To Me.” With new music now gracing the rock scene, fans are advised to keep an eye out for WAYLAND's upcoming tour dates announcement.
