Festival Performer Highlights

The Goo Goo Dolls, first-night headliners, have been a recognizable force in the music world since their emergence in 1986. With hit songs like 'Name' and the anthemic ballad 'Iris', they've demonstrated consistent appeal, especially for summertime outdoor concerts. Joining them on the bill for August 2 are The Fray, along with local band Yam Haus and promising new talents Dean Lewis and Red Clay Strays.

On the following night, August 3, the Counting Crows will continue the melody-rich legacy. The band made its mark in the early '90s with hits 'Mr. Jones' and 'Round Here' and has since been a staple on adult alternative airwaves. Fresh off past performances at the Block Party in 2004 and 2009, they are poised to deliver another memorable show. Accompanying Counting Crows are Christian rock group NeedToBreathe, rocking duo Judah and the Lion, 'American Idol' victor Phillip Phillips, singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress, and the local rising band Guytano.

A Stage for Local Talent

The festival's commitment to spotlighting local talent is showcased through its second stage, dedicated solely to local acts. Run Westy Run and St. Paul and the Minneapolis Funk All Stars are set to headline each night, respectively. Other local performers include Black Widows, the Ocean Blue, and the Mary Jane Alm Band, among others.

A Brief History of the Basilica Block Party

Launched in 1995 as a fundraising initiative for the restoration of the historic downtown Basilica, the Basilica Block Party has become a celebrated event. While the pandemic led to its cancellation in 2020 and subsequent years witnessed changes and challenges, including lower attendance and the cancellation of the 2022 and 2023 editions, the Block Party is back and ready to carry on its tradition of bringing music and community together under the summer sky.
