The Met: Live in HD Showcases Encore Series in Bermuda

The Bermuda Opera team has announced its ongoing presentation of the Met: Live in HD 2022-23 and Encore series. Opera enthusiasts in Bermuda can enjoy these cinematic events every Sunday at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) at 5:00 PM. The next screening is scheduled for February 4, 2024.

Spectacular Opera in the Month of Heritage

The series is particularly special as it coincides with Black History Month. One of the highlighted performances includes the Met premiere of 'Champion', an opera by the six-time Grammy award-winning jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard. This opera has significance as it showcases Blanchard's work who stands out for his notable contributions to the genre.

This opera features a powerful cast with bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green as the young Emile Griffith and bass-baritone Eric Owens as his older counterpart. Soprano Latonia Moore and mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe will also grace the stage, with Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducting and James Robinson directing. Camille A. Brown brings her vibrant choreography back to the Met following her previous successes.
